I still cant get over my ex-girlfriend. why?
she broke up with me 6 months ago, and i thought i’d be over it by now but im not. i literally have her on my mind everyday and it just hurts me so much. she dumped me because she thought i was only into her for the sex, which was not true. she was a virgin, and i didn’t know she was feeling uncomfortable having sex multiple times a week. i was pretty dumb, and i wish we never had sex so i could show her how much she meant to me.

i tried my hardest to explain to her this, that i didnt mean to treat her like that and didnt know she was uncomfortable, but she refused to take me back. even 6 months later when we talked about the break up and my feelings for her (after starting a friendship a month and a half ago) she says she cant be in a relationship with me. says she doesn’t want to be in a relationship with anyone. i can tell she is serious, cause she said the same thing after our break up and she still hasn’t been with any guys since then. well she hasn’t talked to me since then, and i dont think she wants to be my friend anyone despite saying we’re still friends after that talk.

i just really cared so much for this girl, i loved her. i been dating a lot lately, been talking to girls. even had this one girl i talked to all night up until morning, but even then it still made me miss my ex so much. i want to stop remembering her. i keep my mind occupied, been going out almost everyday, started an instrument talked to old friends. everything i could possibly do to keep my mind busy, and she is in my every thought. will i ever get her out of my head?

You have the most common disease known to man, one-itis. You keep think that she is the only one this and the only one that. This happens to a lot of guys. The cure is to date a ton more women. I went through something very similar and I cured it the same way.

You need to get back on the field and realize what is possible. Playing music is cool, but something tells me you only write songs about her. That’s not gonna cure you. It makes you addicted to sadness as it becomes your muse.

So you need to decide to change you life and start taking action. You can read all about my journey on my blog. I posted the link below if you’re interested.

Yeah…it stinks. I know. Trust me. I’ve been there man. But it gets better. You’ll find another person who’ll make you forget about her. I know this seems crazy now but when you find her, you’ll see.

My friends all said I wouldn’t get over my ex until I met someone better. I was with him for almost 3 years. I still have days where I get sad about it, but making new friends has helped a lot.

Yes, you will eventually lose the feelings for her. It’s not like she’s the only girl in the world. There is bound to be someone that will fit your criteria. You just have to give other girls a chance. That’s all.

i’m so sorry hun:( i wasn’t going to read this cuz it’s so long, but the more i read it the more i felt for you cuz i’ve been through that myself. i’m sorry babe but you just have to give it time. it sucks i know, but i promise that things will turn out ok. just give her space and deal with your feelings instead of pushing them down. it really helped me to write it all down so i could get it out and deal with it. it won’t go away if you try to forget it. i’d suggest a notebook to write it in and then just let it heal.

Man, I know what you’re going through. Last may my girlfriend broke up with me and like you I couldn’t get her out of my head. Seeing her every single day(we live in a small town) hurt. I wanted to get over her, I thought I NEEDED to get over her. I ended up going out wit a different girl for a few months but ended up breaking her heart because I still wasn’t ready. I told her I still needed time to get over some one and she took it to mean there was another girl involved.. anyways, my first ex, the one I couldn’t get over, was there to comfort me about the break up. It took 8 months for her to realize that she did want me. maybe, your girl is getting there as well. Tell her how you still feel, if she’s anything like my girl, or most girls for that matter, she’ll give you a second chance.

How do rate Harry Gregson-Williams's music on a scale from 1 (Poor) to 5 (Incredible)?
He is a Golden Globe and Grammy-nominated British film score composer. He has scored films like Kingdom of Heaven, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Shrek, Chicken Run, Antz, Spy Game, Man on Fire, and Team America: World Police, Gregson-Williams is also noted for his work on the popular video games Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. He has scored Enemy of the State and Armageddon with Trevor Rabin. He scored The Rock with Hans Zimmer and Nick Glennie-Smith. With John Powell, he has scored Shrek, Chicken Run, and Antz. How would you describe him? I would describe Hans Zimmer as dark, breathtaking, powerful, and intense. I think Harry Gregson-Williams’s music can be dark too. Anyone who is a fan of Harry Gregson-Williams’s music, post a response with a few sentences describing him and his music in detail other than one simple answer (which will not be rated).

I’d put him around a 7 or 8. Some of his scores are quite good, but I don’t think they are as memorable as, say, Danny Elfman or John Williams.

Manifest destiny, Can someone please help me with these questions?
Manifest destiny, Can someone please help me with these questions?
Manifest destiny, Can someone please help me with these questions?
Reading 1:
Our manifest destiny [is] to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly multiplying millions.
John L. O’Sullivan, 1845
Reading 2:
Texas has been absorbed into the Union as the inevitable fulfillment of the general law which is rolling our population westward….It was disintegrated from Mexico in the natural course of events, by a process perfectly legitimate on its own part, blameless on ours….
California will, probably next fall away from…Mexico…imbecile and distracted…The Anglo-Saxon foot is already on its borders….All this without agency of our government, without responsibility of our people–in the natural flow of events, the spontaneous working of principles….
Democratic Review, 1845
Reading 3:
Mexico has passed the boundary of the United States, has invaded our territory and shed American blood upon American soil. She has proclaimed that hostilities have commenced and that the two nations are now at war.

As war exists, and, notwithstanding all our efforts to avoid it, exists by the act of Mexico herself, we are called upon by every consideration of duty and patriotism to vindicate with decision the honor, the rights, and the interests of our country.
Polk’s War Message, 1846
Reading 4:
How does it become a man to behave toward this American government today? I answer that he cannot without disgrace be associated with it. I cannot for an instant recognize that political organization as my government which is the slave’s government also.
Henry David Thoreau
Reading 5:
Now we ask, whether any man can coolly contemplate the idea of recalling our troops from the [Mexican] territory we at present occupy…and…resign this beautiful country to the custody of the ignorant cowards and profligate ruffians who have ruled it for the last twenty-five years? Why humanity cries out against it. Civilization and Christianity protest against this reflux of the tide of barbarism and anarchy.
New York Evening Post, 1848
Reading 6:
Have not results in Mexico taught the invincibility of American arms?…The North Americans will spread out far beyond their present bounds. They will encroach again and again upon their neighbors. New territories will be planted, declare their independence, and be annexed. We have New Mexico and California! We will have Old Mexico and Cuba! The isthmus cannot arrest–nor even the Saint Lawrence!! Time has all of this in her womb. A hundred states will grow up where now exists but thirty.
DeBow’s Commercial Review, 1848

1. Define "manifest destiny." What forces contributed to the commitment to American expansion?
2. Why did the United States go to war with Mexico?
3. How does President Polk justify an American declaration of war against Mexico? Do you find his explanation convincing?
4. What were American motives for waging the war?
5. Why did opponents oppose the war?
6. What were the political consequences of the Mexican War?
